Glass Stairs and Floors in Lloret de Mar

A glass tread or floor is not simply thick glass: it is an engineered structural laminate. We work with build-ups of three or four toughened panes bonded with SentryGlas, a far stiffer resin than conventional PVB and the reason the assembly keeps carrying load if one pane breaks. We size it from the span between supports, the fixing type and the imposed load the Spanish CTE sets for dwellings or public premises.

The top face always carries an anti-slip treatment: fired ceramic screen printing in dots or bands, or an acid-etched finish. We never hand over a plain glass tread, however good it looks in a photograph. We make cantilevered treads with recessed anchors, staircases on a central stringer, structural floors on steel frames, walkways, walk-on rooflights and glass floors over basements and cellars to bring daylight downwards.

In furniture we make toughened glass table tops with polished or bevelled edges, shelves, worktops and bar fronts, display cases and retail units, and counter screens. Everything with a worked edge and, where the piece is within public reach, in safety glass.

Yes, provided it is engineered. A three-pane structural laminate with SentryGlas sized for the correct span carries the imposed load the CTE demands with a high safety factor, and retains load capacity even with one pane broken. The risk is not in the glass; it is in installing glass nobody calculated.

Plain glass, very. That is why every tread and floor we supply carries an anti-slip treatment on the top face, with a slip class matched to the use. In external areas or bathroom routes we raise the class.

It depends what you choose. Clear laminate leaves the view almost completely open, which in a domestic staircase can be uncomfortable. The usual answer is a dot screen print or a laminate with a translucent interlayer, which passes light but cuts direct sight.

For a new staircase forming part of the structure, yes, a project is required. For replacing existing treads or adding a structural floor onto an existing frame, our written glass calculation is normally sufficient, and we hand it to you.

Longer than the rest of our work: three to six weeks, because structural laminate is autoclaved to order and never held in stock. It is a lead time worth building into your programme.
